GIRLS ON TRACK
Girls On Track is an innovative and empowering educational initiative developed as part of the Formula High School program. Launched in February 2025 in partnership with The Busy School – Southport, the pilot program was designed to engage and inspire young women to pursue opportunities in the traditionally male-dominated fields of automotive technology, engineering, and STEM.
At the heart of the program is a dynamic, hands-on learning experience where teams collaborate to design, build, and race a fully functional race car. These teams compete in the annual Formula High School Challenge at Lakeside Park International Raceway, putting their skills to the test in an exciting, skills-based competition.
The core mission of Girls On Track is to break down gender barriers and empower young women to explore careers in the automotive/engineering industry's. By providing real-world experience, mentorship, and a supportive team environment, the program helps participants build both technical expertise and self-confidence.
Throughout the program, participants develop practical skills in:
Mechanical
Engineering
Fabrication
Automotive Electrical
Alongside these technical abilities, they cultivate essential soft skills such as teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and communication.
Girls On Track also fosters strong partnerships with industry professionals, educators, and local businesses to provide mentorship, resources, and inspiration—helping participants envision and prepare for careers they may not have otherwise considered.
Through the thrill of competition and the pride of building something from the ground up, Girls On Track is far more than a certificate course or a race event—it’s a launchpad for the next generation of female innovators, and trailblazers.
